Who We Are
Our Mission, Vision, and Team
Our Story
The Foundation for the Flourishment of African and Latin Ancestry [Artpreneurs] Communities in Canada was born out of a deep belief in the transformative power of art and the strength of community. Inspired by the enduring wisdom of leaders like Louis Riel, who recognized the critical role of artists in revitalizing communities, we understand that it takes a village to raise a child—and it takes a community to nurture and empower an artist. This belief is at the heart of our foundation. We are dedicated to creating a supportive and interconnected community that uplifts Artpreneurs from African, Black, Caribbean, Latin, Indigenous and other underrepresented backgrounds across Canada.
Our foundation is built on the principle that when artists are supported by a strong network of mentors, peers, and advocates, their success reverberates far beyond their own lives—sparking economic growth, cultural pride, and social cohesion and sustainability within their communities. We are committed to fostering this environment of collaboration, where everyone contributes to and benefits from the flourishing of creativity.
Our Mission
Our mission is to empower artists and creatives from underrepresented communities accross Canada with a focus on African, Black, Caribbean, Latin and indigenous artpreneurs, helping them to build sustainable careers. We believe that when artists thrive, their success reverberates throughout their communities, fostering economic growth, cultural pride, and social cohesion.
Our Vision
We envision a Canada where every artist, regardless of background, has the opportunity to succeed and where creativity is recognized as a driving force for positive change. By supporting Artpreneurs, we aim to create a society where art is not just valued but is a cornerstone of community well-being.
The Village (Community)
We believe in the power of community, echoing the idea that “it takes a village to raise a child.” Our foundation is committed to creating a network of support where artists can thrive, knowing they are part of a larger, interconnected community that nurtures their growth.
Empowerment
We are dedicated to empowering Artpreneurs by providing them with the resources, knowledge, and opportunities they need to turn their creative passions into sustainable careers. We believe that empowered artists have the power to transform their communities and create lasting cultural impact.
Diversity as a Strength
We see diversity not just as a goal, but as a fundamental strength that enriches our communities. By embracing the wide range of cultural perspectives and experiences within our network, we create a dynamic environment where creativity flourishes and all voices are heard and valued.
Collaboration
We recognize that collaboration is key to success. Whether through partnerships, mentorship, or community engagement, we strive to create opportunities for artists to connect, share, and grow together. We believe that when we work together, we amplify our impact and build a stronger, more vibrant cultural community.
